Sounds to me as if the "scholars" are not the brightest people around. The people, who are the source of the Constitution, always understood what their Second Amendment said. Perhaps the "scholars" need to clamber down from their tower and engage reality once in a while. That would be the scholarly thing to do.

And you might want to treat the "scholars" with the respect they deserve - very little
